Description
Veidnes has a nice bird hide, and May, June, and August are particularly interesting periods. The migration of the Purple Sandpiper is a spectacular experience. A flock at the bird hide on Veidnes can number as many as 40,000 individuals. This takes place around the second half of May. For the rest of the year, resident birds can be observed, and there is also a chance to see overwintering species that have migrated in from the east. It is not uncommon for rare species to appear here. For example Greater Yellowlegs and White-rumped Sandpiper have been observed in the area.
