The shallow lake of Børsesjø is rich in birds and a nice place for birdwatching. Up to date 240 species of birds have been seen in this area.
Børsesjø is a shallow and nutrient-rich lake just east of the city of Skien. The lake is providing a sanctuary for waterbirds in the otherwise industrialised region of Grenland. Parts of the lake are completely overgrown with reeds and other water plants. The lake has an average depth of 2.1 meters, the largest depth is 4.8 meters. Several species breed here. Good chance to see жолтогрла стрнарка, Мочварна овесарка, барска кокошка, блатна еја, четириока патка and different species of ducks and geese. орел рибар hunt in the lake regularly and сокол ластовичар is seen once in a while. A path leads to a tower hide.
Børsesjø is best accessible from the parking place at Gjerpen Church. A marked path (500 m) leads to the "Fugletårnet" (birdwatching tower). Access to the reserve is not permitted from the 15th of April to the 1st of July with the exception of the path to the observation tower. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the parking place.
There are two towers. One in the South-West and one in the North-West.
