Description
The Geestmerambacht is an excellent birding location, especially in spring but also during winter. On the eastern side of the area, there is a relatively large recreational lake where, in winter, you can often see large numbers of waterfowl, mainly патка свиркач and сива патка. If you're lucky, you might spot a голем северен нуркач, бел нуркач, or патка превез among them, and during migration, орел рибар is occasionally sighted!
More centrally located in the area, you’ll find the Kleimeer, a large reed bed where, in spring, species such as кукавица, штурче трскарче, голем воден бик, свиларче, мал трскар, Мочварна овесарка, блатна еја and сокол ластовичар can be seen. A Полска еја regularly overwinters here, and мустаклеста сипка can be found year-round. In the bushes surrounding the Kleimeer, the славејче can also be heard in spring.
On the western side of the area, there are wet grasslands (indicated on the map), which are excellent for observing waders during spring. Species like шумска тринга, Црвенонога сабјарка, црноопашна блатарка, Bar-tailed Godwit, среден пескар, шарена тринга and бојник are frequent visitors here. It’s also a great spot for патка крецка, чапја говедарка and in June, лисеста гусковидна патка are occasionally seen!
In winter, large numbers of сива патка, калуѓерка and various goose species overwinter here, with occasional surprises such as Brent Goose, карпеста трепетилка or обичен свиркач.

Nederlands: Het Geestmerambacht is vooral in het voorjaar maar ook in de winter een goede vogelkijkplek. Aan de oostkant van het gebied heb je een relatief groot recreatiemeer waar je 's winters vaak grote aantallen watervogels ziet waaronder grotendeels патка свиркач en сива патка. Als je geluk hebt, zwemt hier een голем северен нуркач, бел нуркач of патка превез tussen en op trek wordt er nog weleens een орел рибар gezien!
Meer centraal gelegen in het gebied heb je de Kleimeer, een groot rietveld waar je in het voorjaar soorten als кукавица, штурче трскарче, голем воден бик, свиларче, мал трскар, Мочварна овесарка, блатна еја en сокол ластовичар kunt zien. Er overwintert hier ook standaard een Полска еја en мустаклеста сипка is hier jaarrond te vinden. In de bosjes rondom de Kleimeer is in het voorjaar ook славејче te horen.
Westelijk gelegen in het gebied heb je plasdras weilandjes waar je in het voorjaar uitstekend steltlopers kunt kijken (zie uitkijkpunt op de kaart). Soorten als шумска тринга, Црвенонога сабјарка, црноопашна блатарка, Bar-tailed Godwit, среден пескар, шарена тринга and бојник zijn hier veel geziene gasten. Het is trouwens ook een goede plek voor патка крецка , чапја говедарка en in juni zijn er nog wel eens лисеста гусковидна паткаs te vinden! In de winter overwinteren hier grote aantallen сива патка, калуѓерка en diverse soorten ganzen waar soms ook spannende vogels opduiken zoals Brent Goose, карпеста трепетилка of обичен свиркач.

Access
Geestmerambacht is located directly north of the city of Alkmaar. By car from Alkmaar going north following N245, then go left direction Koedijk following Nauertogt. Parkingplaces on the right in the recreation area "Geestmerambacht", or drive further on where there are a few informal P, next to the see the best places for watching birds.

Nederlands: Nederlands: Geestmerambacht ligt direct te noorden van Alkmaar. Met de auto vanuit Alkmaar noordwaarts de N245 volgen, dan linksaf richting Koedijk en de Nauertogt volgen. Parkeerplaatsen rechts in het recreatiegebied "Geestmerambacht", of rijd verder door waar er een paar informele parkeerplaatsen zijn, naast de beste plekken om vogels te kijken. Druk op een P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar een parkeerplek.
