Description

Hornbill Valley is located just outside the famous Taman Negara rainforest, one of the oldest rainforests in the world. The valley is home to several hornbill species and the quiet road is ideal for roadbirding. Hornbills you can observe in the valley include Rhinoceros Hornbill, Black Hornbill, Bushy-crested Hornbill, Great Hornbill, Oriental Pied-Hornbill, Wreathed Hornbill and Wrinkled Hornbill. And also the rare Helmeted Hornbill. The valley has plenty of tall trees and offers a peaceful environment for birdwatching. Other birds you can observe include Rufous Woodpecker, Dark-throated Oriole, Crimson-winged Woodpecker and Yellow-crowned Barbet.

Access

From Kuala Lumpur, you can take a bus or hire a car to reach Taman Negara. The journey takes about 3-4 hours by road. The valley is located just outside the main area of Taman Negara, along a quiet road connecting Kuala Tahan to Kampung Pagi1.

You can explore the road by car and stop at different viewpoints overlooking the valley. Always check barren trees for birds.
