In spring and autumn numerous flocks of migrating waterfowl make their stop in the lakes Dusia, Metelys and Obelija.
In the Meteliai Regional Park lie three big lakes - Dusia, Metelys and Obelija. The lakes are well known both, for their exceptional beauty and natural values, but for birds in particular. In nearby shallow water bodies very rare in Lithuania European pond turtles live. In spring and autumn numerous flocks of migrating waterfowl make their stop in the lakes. Late autumn is a special time to visit the lakes: in October-November in lakes Dusia and Metelys rare in inland waters sea ducks, loons like мал морски нуркач and белец and grebes are found. Waterfowl occurs abundantly which is hunted by белоопашест орел. Also a chance of seeing белогрб клукајдрвец.
The ponds of the Simnas fishery farm are an attractive site for birdwatchers in the autumn migration period. In October-November having drained the ponds numerous flocks of waders land here. Flocks of thousands of златно блатарче and калуѓерка can be watched here, as well as other species of waders among them, also resting flocks of various gulls, and egrets are found.
Good parking place at Meteliai Regional Park direction car park or near Meteliai observation tower.
