The most important wetland in northern Sardinia and the site of a nature reserve covering more than 250 hectares.
The mouth of the Coghinas river has been identified by the Bird Life International as an IBA (Important Birds Area). The vegetation is lush everywhere, with rushes and reeds both along the banks and at the mouth, characterised by sand dunes. The bird species that can be observed include морски пескар, Црвенонога сабјарка, мала чигра, мала бела чапја, ноќна чапја, зеленонога тринга, Zitting Cisticola and блатна еја.
