Description
Cima Ramà is located at northernmost edge of the Western Mediterranean Sea, and with mountains higher than 1000 m a.s.l. creating a bottleneck for migrating raptors. In spring, the most abundant species are орел змијар in March and осојад in May. The site is probably the best spot in Italy for watching migrating орел змијар. Individuals breeding in Italy cross the Mediterranean Sea through the Straits of Gibraltar, making a circuitous route so that the largest concentration of migrating орел змијар in Italy occurs over the Ligurian Apennines, in this site (near Arenzano), both in autumn and in spring.
In mid-March, more than 500 individuals per day can be seen. The most favourable weather conditions are cloudy with southwestern winds, but with no rain. белоглав мршојадец are also commonly seen in the area. In the first half of april, the migration of блатна еја peaks, and also many голема пиштарка can be seen. златен орел is a breeding species in the area. Cima Ramà is a good spot for falcons, especially сокол ластовичар and Обична (Црнонокна) ветрушка. Curlo is the easiest and better spot for watching raptor migration here, but also from the ridge toward the Riparo Scarpeggin or from the birdwatching tower you can do great observations. The best site also varies depending on the weather. in the rocky areas, модар дрозд is breeding and the карполазач is wintering regularly. Also, in the Erica arborea dominated shrublands, the Dartford Warbler is very common. Here, the Red-legged Partridge is also present.
