Description

Höfði Woodland Park is located on the eastern side of Lake Mývatn and consists of a beautiful forested area adjacent to the lake. Several pathways lead through a diverse habitat with scattered trees, strange rock formations and great views over the lake. The park is a good spot for local breeding birds, such as Брезова чинка, лисест дрозд and царче. During migration, anything can show up here! Especially finches, like обична ѕвингалка, северна ѕвингалка and зимовка have been seen in the past.

The rocky parts are particular good for Алпска (Снежна) кокошка. The area is also used as hunting ground by Gyrfalcon.

The views over the lake provide observations of many species of waterbird, like Barrow's Goldeneye, морски кожувар, Red-necked Phalarope, среден северен нуркач and долгоопашеста патка.
