Natural lake which functions as a fishpond with a castle on the northern side of it. The lake is partly surrounded by riparian forests and the town of Tata.
The Tata lake (also known as Lake Öreg or in Hungarian: Öreg-tó) is an important wintering site for tens of thousands of wintering wildfowl (mainly geese) and gulls. It's a Ramsar Site and an Important Bird Area as well. Recommended months to visit the lake are from October to late February.
Easy acces to the lake all around and it is easily walkable. The circular trail is 7.3 km long. Click on a P in the map to get directions.
