Great place to see breeding Sylvia warblers, while enjoying breathtaking views of the city of Athens. Best visiting in spring and autumn
Mt Hymettus is a great birding place, very close to the city center of Athens with several species to enjoy such as Rüppell's Warbler, шпанско камењарче, Еребица, Лисест (Белоопашест) глувчар and црвеногушесто муварче . Different habitats (scattered forest, olive groves, makia vegetation, rocky slopes) provide excellent habitat for a variety of birds, basically passerines.
Walk around Kesariani Monastery to see црвеногушесто муварче in fall, also breeding Шумски (Обичен) був, црногрла стрнарка, мало црноглаво грмушарче, црвеноглаво кралче, дологоопашеста сипка and ќук. Drive up the summit in spring and explore the surrounding paths for Rüppell's Warbler, Црвеногушо коприварче, шпанско камењарче, модар дрозд, лазач грнчар and Лисест (Белоопашест) глувчар. Click on a P in the map to get directions to that parking spot.
Avoid weekends with good weather (it gets very crowded around the Kesariani Monastery).
