This barrage in the Danube river is an important resting area for ducks and geese. Worth visiting especially in winter.
The barrage at Staustufe Ingolstadt causes the Danube to widen considerably and slow down the flow speed. Here the Danube is more like a reservoir and that is ideal for some water birds to spend the winter at this place. Also there is a small island that attracts birds. Among the birds you can encounter are сива патка, патка свиркач, патка превез, црвеноглав кожувар, цуцулест кожувар, четириока патка, голем северен нуркач and среден северен нуркач.
Staustufe Ingolstadt is located southwest of the city center of Ingolstadt. Parking options south and north of the barrage. Click on the P in the map for directions.
