For birding the area west of the lake and the river Leine is interesting as it is kind of natural floodplain forest. In the southeast there is the pond Vierthaler Teich (2), which is a good spot for exotic waterfowl like Wood Duck and Mandarin Duck as well as рибарче. During migration it is worth to check the southern shore for мал пескар and остригар but one should keep in mind that the area belongs to a private swimming club.
