Description
In winter, the Hurstsee is home to a great number and variety of ducks and other waterbirds. There are good numbers (between 15 and 100+) of Дива патка, сива патка, цуцулест кожувар, црвеноглав кожувар, црна лиска and голем корморан.
Smaller groups of патка берија and цуцулест нуркач can usually be seen scattered across the lake. Egyptian Goose and црвеноклун лебед are often present, as well as голема бела чапја, сива чапја, рибарче and планинска тресиопашка along the fringes of the lake.
With a bit of luck, you can also see голем северен нуркач, патка свиркач, патка ластовичарка, патка крецка (on spring migration) or even a stunning бел нуркач here!
Waterbirds are the main attraction, but the trees and bushes around the lake are worth checking too. There are plenty of common woodland / garden birds, plus a good chance of seeing (or hearing) any of the following: елова зелентарка, дебелоклун црешар, зимовка, обично попче, црвеноглаво кралче, лисест дрозд and црн клукајдрвец.
