The wet meadows of Elzwiesen are irrigated in March, August and November. End of March/ start of April and August are the best times to watch migrating birds on the flooded meadows. Common migrating spiecies are шумска тринга , бојник , зеленонога тринга , езерски галеб and патка крецка. Also rarer species like чапја лажичарка , шарен српоклун свиркач and црноопашна блатарка can sometimes be found on the irrigated areas.
Breeding birds are голем српоклун свиркач , калуѓерка , славејче and обично страче. Many голема бела чапја , сива чапја and штрк can be observed feeding in the area. The meadows are irrigated in steps from south to north. So most times only one part of the area is flooded. Note that the area has limited access from March to June.
