During the winter months, many migratory duck and geese species rest at Altwarmbüchener See, such as дива гуска, Canada Goose, Egyptian Goose, Дива патка, цуцулест кожувар, патка берија, сива патка, патка свиркач, четириока патка, црвеноглав кожувар, голем северен нуркач and Tundra Bean Goose. Also црвеноклун лебед, голем корморан, цуцулест нуркач, голема бела чапја and сива чапја can be seen regularly. The park around the lake is home to бела тресиопашка, планинска сипка, мала црноглава сипка, обичен свиркач, зимовка, ќос and many more.
During the summer months there is a lot of bathing activity and observation opportunities are limited.

Access
Altwarmbüchener See is located northeast of the city of Hannover. The lake is easily accessible by public transport (tram line 3). The tram stops (1) are 500–900 m from the lake. There are also numerous parking spaces available. Press a P on the map for directions to a parking lot. A circular path (3,5 km) leads around the lake. In summer, there is a kiosk, boat rentals, and public restrooms.
