The island of Chaillac on the river Vienne is a little over 2km long and about 300m at its widest. It is the largest natural island on the Vienne.
L'ile de Chaillac is well preserved and has only a few buildings. It is possible to go around the island on foot, or to cross it in the middle. The banks of the river are the most interesting spots for observing birds.

C'est la plus grande île naturelle sur la Vienne, elle est préservée avec peu de constructions. Il est possible d'en faire le tour à pieds, ou de la traverser au milieu. Les berges sont particulièrement intéressantes pour faire des observations sur l'eau.
Parking is present at the beginning of the island. Click on the P in the map for directions. A pedestrian bridge gives access to the island. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 5,5 km.
