Description
Nestled in the heart of the Ardennes region, Bairon Lake has a total surface area of 120 hectares and is made up of two bodies of water separated by a dyke. The old pond on the northwestern side of the dyke and its adjoining reed bed, is the place to be for birdwatching. It has been transformed into a natural reserve. The big lake to the southeast side of the dyke is less interesting and created for water sports and activities. You can walk around the old pond, through the forest to discover passerines and along the lake for migrants. The reed bed and wet thickets hide the nesting of many species, including Мал воден бик. Among the other birds you can see in the area are дива гуска, Canada Goose, патка свиркач, црвеноглав кожувар, цуцулест кожувар, четириока патка, трскар рогозар and мал пескар.

Français: Parcours autour de l'ancien lac, à travers la forêt pour y découvrir les passereaux et longer le lac pour les migrateurs. L'avifaune est particulièrement bien fournie. On y dénombre pas moins de 151 espèces d'oiseaux, dont 104 protégées et 11 en danger (liste rouge des oiseaux de Champagne-Ardenne). L'hiver ne pas hésiter à aller vers le terrain de camping pour les voir de plus près et peut-être avoir la chance d'apercevoir des oies à tête barrée.

Access
There are several parking areas around the lake. Closest to the northwestern part of the lake is a space for lunch (picnic) just after the footbridge, on the left, where you can park. Click on the P in the map for directions. You can make a circular walk (4,5 km) around this part of the lake.
