This was one of the richest ponds of the Brenne, but the former large heron colony is no longer there. Still many species of ducks can be seen.
Observatoire de l'étang Massé is a bird hide on one of the richest ponds of the Brenne with numerous birds. But the former large heron colony has moved because the trees have died. The herons have chosen another lake for their nests.
On returning from the Massé pond observatory, take the small marked path on your right. This path enters a wood full of songbirds. Further on, the path returns to the municipal path then branches off again to the right. Walk on the water using a footbridge. If you are silent, frogs, dragonflies or turtles may be observed.
