Thanks to its low water level, Bassin de Décantation de Cadarache developed aquatic vegetation and a beautiful reed bed. Therefore the Cadarache basin welcomes a great diversity of ducks in exceptional numbers. Among these species are црвеноглав кожувар (often several thousand individuals), цуцулест кожувар, голем северен нуркач, патка лажичарка, црн кожувар, патка свиркач, сива патка, патка берија and црна лиска. The ideal time to observe the wintering birds is between December and February.

Access to the site is closed to the public but it is possible to park at its southern end and to make observations from the edge without entering the site.
