Gilbjerg Hoved

North Zeeland  >  Denmark

Spring migration hotspot. Excellent from March to May, but note that wind direction should be between SSW and E. Massive day counts of passerines. Also raptors.

Description

Gilbjerg Hoved is a hotspot to watch spring migration. Gilbjerg is known for its unique small bird migration and is a great location to watch migration of smaller birds. But birds of prey are also seen such as falcons and јастреб врапчар, also орел рибар, глувчар, гаќест глувчар and осојад. They can come in large numbers, especially in fresh, sometimes even strong winds from the east to the south. Over the years, many rare birds have been observed here.

In the area there are a number of viewpoints. At the eastern end is Solsortesøen and other humid areas. Here there may be an excellent small bird population, among others, големо страче, обично страче, warblers, thrushes (including белограден ќос), обично ливадарче, обично камењарче and other small birds.
