Description
The Slatina area is an important breeding site for many birds connected to reedbeds such as Мал воден бик (the only location of this species in Prague), штурче трскарче, барска кокошка, обичен трскар, трскар рогозар, зеленонога блатна кокошка or Мочварна овесарка. Also the блатна еја is breeding here. On the pond itself breeds many pairs of цуцулест нуркач, црна лиска, Дива патка and a few pairs of црвеноглав кожувар and цуцулест кожувар. In the linked rural areas breed обично страче, полски трскар, славејче and many others. Nearby there is a breeding site of брегова ластовичка.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as Синогушка, обично ливадарче, планинско ливадарче, црноглаво муварче, патка крецка and many other species of waterfowl, обична бекасина, калуѓерка and many, many more species.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch обичен сколовранец murmuration. Also селска ластовичка and Жолта тресиопашка come here to spend a night.
During the weekend the location can be overcrowded by people such as fishermen or bikers so I recommend you to visit the location during weekdays. Please do not disturb birds in their breeding habitats and use just visible pathways!
