Description
St Hubert is a great forest that is often overlooked by birders. A good place to find typical forest birds. In addition this is just a great site to see mammals: roe deer, red deer and wild boar. For birds: expect the normal forest birds here, like tits ( планинска сипка , мала црноглава сипка and the more common species), woodpeckers ( црн клукајдрвец ), Обичен (Шумски) лазач , зимовка , дебелоклун црешар. обичен ползач is more common then краткопрст ползач here. In winter check for големо страче in the peat areas. Try your luck for црн штрк in summer. And off course try for songbirds in spring. гавран occurs frequently. Only a few times I had Лешникарка here.

Many walks are possible in the forests, and here I propose two options. Around Mochamps you have Great oppertunities with a lot of deer ( try your luck around dusk) and slow but reliable birding, with all the typical forest birds (great for обичен ползач). You can also walk between the small airport of St Hubert (parking available) and Laneuville-au-Bois (parking available). There are many trails in the forest, I have just proposed a few on the map. The peatlands around the airport and more downstream the valley are just great for големо страче and зимовка. In the forests мала црноглава сипка , планинска сипка , Обичен (Шумски) лазач are common.

Rond Mochamps heb je geweldige mogelijkheden met veel herten (beproef je geluk rond de schemering) en ook vogels kijken, met alle typische bosvogels (geweldig gebied voor обичен ползач). Je kunt ook lopen tussen de kleine luchthaven van St Hubert (parkeergelegenheid) en Laneuville-au-Bois (parkeergelegenheid). Er zijn veel paden in het bos, ik stel er een paar voor op de kaart. De veengebieden rond het vliegveld en meer stroomafwaarts in de vallei zijn geweldig voor големо страче en зимовка. In de bossen komen мала црноглава сипка, планинска сипка, Обичен (Шумски) лазач veel voor.

Combine this place with other forests in the neighbourhood. It might be easier to find birds in the nearby village of Laneuville-au-Bois, but you will lack the real forest species.
