Description
The Ballewijer nature reserve is enclosed in the urban areas of Zonhoven and Molenheide. The area consists of two ponds. The ponds with their reed beds are of great value for waterfowl, amphibians and dragonflies. The edge of the marsh and ponds is a biotope that mainly attracts Синогушка and барска кокошка. The marsh contains both шумска шљука and обична бекасина. The small reed beds are home to breeding birds like трскар рогозар and Мочварна овесарка.
