50 hectare nature reserve by the sea in Heist. The bay is a good place for watching seabirds.
The Bay of Heist is a 50 hectare nature reserve that consists on the one hand of embryonic dunes and on the other hand of a slufter with mud flats and salt marshes. These nutrient-rich silt soils are very attractive to all kinds of waders and ducks. The low beach offers breeding grounds for ground-nesting beach birds such as морски пескар and среден пескар. The bay is a place where countless species of birds come to rest and are loved by bird watchers. Birds you can see here include обичен галеб, Brent Goose, остригар, бојник, Barnacle Goose, ливадска трепетилка, камењарче, езерски галеб, мал црногрб галеб and Голем морски галеб.
