Fishponds and reedbed with a good track record of migrants.
Over 240 bird species have been found at the Güssinger Fischteiche, making it one of the best places in southern Burgenland for birdwatching. The site is also easily accessible from the town and can be incorporated with a visit to the well-known castle nearby. Highlights include breeding црвеноглав кожувар and цуцулест нуркач, a heron colony with сива чапја and голема бела чапја and summer migrants including Мал воден бик and штурче трскарче. In spring the site attracts waders such as Црвенонога сабјарка as well as passage birds such as мал галеб and црна рибарка. The site also has some woodland, which contains црн клукајдрвец, дебелоклун црешар, сивоглав клукајдрвец, and there is a chance of белоопашест орел.
You can park in the main town car parks and walk across the road. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular route indicated on the map is about 6 km. The paths in between the fishponds themselves are private, but birdwatchers are tolerated and local walkers often use these too. These paths offer the best views of the ponds.
