Birds that top the list in Thursden Valley are Pernice bianca nordica, Corvo imperiale and the laughing Picchio verde. One minute your on open barren moorland the next your in the woods. Among the other birds you can encounter are Beccaccia di mare, Barbagianni, Gheppio, Allodola, Pispola, Smergo maggiore, Saltimpalo, Fringuello, Chiurlo maggiore, Gufo di palude and Civetta.

Thursden Valley is located northeast of Burnley. You can park near the Coldwell reservoirs. Click on the P in the map for directions, Or you can make the journey big and come from either Widdop or Hurstwood. Best to explore the area by foot. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 1,8 mile (3 km).
