Descrizione

The northern footpath out towards the Mersey walks you mostly through agricultural land. Large numbers of Fagiano comune can sometimes be seen, as well as Pernice rossa both presumably released gamebirds, though the native Starna is also seen here. In winter, Peppola is occasionally seen, as well as the more common finches and hedgerow birds.

The path alongside the Mersey adds good views of estuary, mudflat and some reedbeds. Waders of various sorts are seen, particularly in winter, when very large counts can occur particularly of Piovanello pancianera (sometimes 10,000+) and Pittima reale (often 1,000+) and Corriere grosso (often hundreds), as well as Oca zamperosee. Herons and egrets are likely, occasionally Airone guardabuoi. A telescope can be useful to pick out birds on the mud in the centre of the channel or far shore.

The western path out to the shore goes through woodland where Ghiandaia, Colombella and Tordo sassello might be found.
