Descrizione

Attenborough Nature Reserve was established in 1966 and opened by Sir David Attenborough. The reserve is a complex of flooded former gravel pits and islands providing habitat for a range of wildlife. With waymarked trails and bird hides, reed beds, open water lakes, a river and visitors centre with great cafe. There is also an Falco pescatore platform. Other birds you can see here are Martin pescatore, Marzaiola, Smergo minore, Smergo maggiore, Beccaccino and Airone cenerino.

Accesso

The Nature Centre and reserve are situated just off the A6005 (post code NG9 6DY) between Beeston and Long Eaton. Turn onto Barton Lane at the traffic lights at Chilwell Retail Park (Mcdonalds and Porcelanosa). Follow Barton Lane with the Village Hotel on your left, over the railway crossing and the car park is at the bottom.

By Bus: Trent Barton ‘INDIGO’ Bus Service between Nottingham Broadmarsh and Derby Bus Station runs regularly every day (approximately every 10 minutes). The bus stop for Attenborough is Chilwell Retail Park / West Point Shopping Centre. Attenborough is approximately a 30 minute bus ride from both Nottingham and Derby. Once off the bus walk down Barton Lane (approximately 500m) with The Village Hotel on your left and Halfords on your right.Trent Barton Bus website.

The reserve is about a 2 hour walk around the site with some hides. Parking (see the P on the map) is £3.00 (all day). Opening Hours of the reserve: Weekdays: 8am - 4pm, Weekends & bank holidays: 8am - 4pm, Hides open: 9am - 4pm.
