Sjötorpasjön is a good place to see wetland birds during much of the year. The surroundings (deciduous forests and farmland) are also interesting. Among the breeders are Svasso maggiore, Cigno reale, Falco di palude and in some years Tarabuso,Svasso collorosso and Basettino. Other breeders in the neighbourhood are Nibbio reale , Picchio rosso minore, Codibugnolo and Canapino maggiore. During migration periods large flocks of Oca selvatica , Oca canadese , Germano reale and Alzavola stay at the lake, often including the odd duck or goose species.
From the birding tower you may see several raptors, especially Poiana, Poiana calzata, Nibbio reale, Nibbio bruno, Falco pescatore and Aquila di mare.

The site is easily to access by a birding tower on the west side of the Sjötorpasjön.
