Descrizione

Fyledalens Nature Reserve protects the valley of the river Fyleån and covers an area of 946 hectares. Surrounded by farmland, Fyledalen stretches from Tågra in the north to Benestad in the south. Around the river Fyleån, the pastures spread out and beech forest covers the valley's steep slopes. The closer you get to the valley's floor the damper the ground is. From the southern parking lot you have a view of a valley where you can see Aquila reale, Aquila di mare and Nibbio reale, among others. Numerous smaller songbirds and forest birds can be seen and heard, see the list below. More rare birds that are observed almost annually are Cicogna nera, Nibbio bruno, Aquila anatraia minore, Aquila anatraia maggiore and Falco cuculo.

Fyledalen is also one of Sweden's most species-rich areas for bats. It is also common to see roe deer, fallow deer and red deer emerge from the forest to graze on the open land in the valley.

Accesso

Fyledalens Naturreservat is located about six kilometres west of Tomelilla. There is a shorter marked trail in the central parts of the reserve (Stenbyrundan, 2.2 km, start from the northern parking lot). But there are also unmarked forest roads. You can take a walk along the river, but you also have a beautiful view of the area from the southern parking lot. Click on a P in the map for directions.
