Descrizione
Björns Skärgård is a popular breeding spot for many shore birds. The largest colony of Sterna maggiore in Sweden can be found here. The best time to visit is during migration in both spring and autumn as many birds pass by the island. Some of these species are otherwise difficult to observe from the mainland as they migrate far out at sea like Strolaga minore, Labbo, Uria and Gabbiano tridattilo. Many small birds use the island as a resting place. Interesting findings during migration include Pispola golarossa and Luì forestiero. During optimal weather conditions large quantities of geese and ducks will come close to the island like Oca colombaccio and Codone. The rocky shores provide natural observation platforms all around the island.
