Descrizione
Äihämäjärvi is a 3 km2 large bird lake with two bird observation towers in the middle of flat moorland. The two approximately 7 meter high towers stand at the edge of the lake on the western side of the lake. One tower has a wind shelter and a barbecue area. Because the lake is large, the distances are large, so a spotting scope is a must. The best time for a visit is the evening or afternoon when you have the best light.
In spring you can find resting, Oca granaiola della taiga, Pesciaiola and Falaropo beccosottile. Birds that breed in the area are Cigno selvatico, Orco marino, Orchetto marino,Pesciaiola, Strolaga mezzana, Svasso collorosso, Svasso cornuto, Albanella reale, Gheppio, Gru and Frullino. In the surrounding forest areas you can observe Picchio tridattilo, Cincia siberiana, Averla maggiore, Ghiandaia siberiana and Zigolo boschereccio. Sometimes Aquila di mare, Gabbianello and Zigolo minore can be seen in the area.

Accesso
The lake is reached from the road between Korpilombolo and Tärendö. If you come from the south, go north past Nuksujärvi. About 14 km from Nuksujärvi there is a parking lot on the right side of the road. Click on the P in the map for directions. From the car park, a 2 km easy-going, partially paved path leads to the lake. About 700 meters before the lake you come to a clearing where the path branches off towards the respective bird tower. Note that the overgrown forest can sometimes make it difficult to find the path. The lake can also be reached from the north following the same road about 15 km from Tärendö. Then take road 394 from Tärendö towards Anttis/Pajala and turn right immediately after you pass over the bridge over the Tärendöälven.
