Plans de Sió is a large steppe-type area, dominated by single-crop cereal farming, located in the Segarra region. It is a dry landscape with some shrubs or scrub. Steppe bird species, such as Albanella minore, Gallina prataiola and Occhione breed in the area, but can be hard to find. The more common birds include Pernice rossa, Grifone, Biancone, Aquila minore, Nibbio reale, Upupa, Averla meridionale, Calandra, Gheppio and Strillozzo. Sometimes Aquila imperiale iberica is observed.
