The Miño River estuary, a space shared by Galicia and Portugal, is a wetland with exceptional characteristics. On the Galician shore we find a multitude of different habitats that host a large population of birds, especially in migration and during the winter. The great Miño river flows into a magnificent estuary, its waters collide with the Atlantic but not before leaving its sediment load that create valuable river islands, such as Canosa, which, being safe from human discomfort, are very calm for wildlife and, especially, for birds. Comparing the waters of Miño on its way to the sea, we still find more habitats of interest such as beaches and small rocky stretches where a good amount of migrating species comes in. But there is even more: the coast of A Guarda, open to the Atlantic is a good balcony to observe seabirds. The steep section of the Concello de A Guarda that opens to the Atlantic as well as its port, especially if there are storms, are excellent bird watching points.

Espagnol: El estuario del río Miño, espacio compartido por Galicia y Portugal, es un humedal de características excepcionales. En la orilla gallega encontramos multitud de hábitats diferentes que acogen una nutrida población de aves, especialmente en migración y durante el invierno. El gran río Miño desemboca formando un magnífico estuario, sus aguas chocan con el Atlántico no sin antes dejar su carga de sedimentos que, con el trascurso del tiempo, han dado lugar a una gran variedad de hábitats palustres de gran extensión e interés natural. Buena parte de ellos se encuentran en islas fluviales, como la Canosa, que al estar a salvo de las molestias humanas resultan muy tranquilas para la fauna y, en especial, para las aves.
Acompañando las aguas del Miño en su camino al mar encontramos aún más hábitats de interés como playas y pequeños tramos rocosos donde recala una buena cantidad de especies en migración.
Pero aún hay más: el litoral de A Guarda, abierto al Atlántico es un buen balcón para observar aves marinas. El abrupto tramo del Concello de A Guarda que se abre al Atlántico así como su puerto, sobre todo si hay temporales, son excelentes puntos de observación de aves.
