Manta Rota is a nice area to walk around on the boardwalks through the low dunes or on the beach, where sometimes Gabbiano corso rests and Sterna maggiore can fly over. In the low vegetation in the dunes there are Occhiocotto and Iberian Picchio verde. In the hinterland very many Gazza aliazzurre iberica and on bare fields sometimes large groups of Occhione. In the early morning and evening hours sleeping migration of Airone guardabuoi and Mignattaio and both in the lagoon and at the river various wading bird species on migration.

The village of Manta Rota is located in the east of the Algarve, near the border with Spain. Press P on the map for directions to a parking spot. The area can be explored on foot from Manta Rota or Altura via the boardwalks. The route shown on the map is about 5 km (one way).
