Descrizione
This spot is located 30 km north of Porto on the northern riverside of Ave estuary, where on low tide some mudflats become accessible for birds to forage. There is a nearby dock where gulls congregate. There (and looking from there to the southern river side), it's possible to spot Gabbiano reale (all year around) but it particularly pays off to keep and eye on gulls during winter since it's possible to find Zafferano, Gabbiano comune, Gabbiano corallino, Gavina and Mugnaiaccio. On the mudflats it's easy to spot Voltapietre and Piro piro piccolo. During migration the mudflats serve as a stopover site for waders and it's possible to spot Chiurlo maggiore, Pittima minore and Pittima reale. On the trees and garden spaces its possible to find Merlo, Pettirosso, Cardellino, Capinera, Cinciallegra, Verzellino and Cappellaccia, to name just a few.
