Urban birdwatching is surprisingly good in Panama's capital. Panamá Viejo is the remaining part of the original Panama City where you look out from the historic old town on the new town. The open areas and wooded areas have many birds. Very easy to spot Black Vulture. Other birds you can encounter are Palm Tanager, Blue-grey Tanager, Yellow Warbler, Saffron Finch, Great-tailed Grackle, Clay-colored Thrush, Tropical Kingbird, Tropical Mockingbird, Social Flycatcher, Great Kiskadee and Yellow-headed Caracara.

Panama Viejo is a short ten-minute drive or 30-minute bus ride from the city center. Parking is available at the area. Also accessible by taxi, or Uber.
