Lonåsen is a small village in Tunndalen, at the confluence of the rivers Tunna and Lona, about 13 kilometers northwest of the town of Tynset. The village is surrounded by forest and tundra. I stayed here for a month in the winter months of December and January. I regularly saw woodpecker species such as Picchio rosso maggiore but also Picchio tridattilo and Picchio cenerino. In addition, Grouse such as Pernice bianca, Fagiano di monte and Gallo cedrone. Finch species such as the Frosone and Ciuffolotto. Furthermore, many Picchio muratore, Cincia alpestre, Verdone, Organetto, Cincia mora, Regolo, Corvo imperiale and Passera mattugia.

Lonåsen is located 13 kilometers northwest of the town of Tynset. In the general area around Tynset and Lonåsen you have a chance of these sightings, especially in winter.
