Frognerparken

Oslo  >  Norway

Frognerparken is perhaps best known for all the statues by Gustav Vigeland, but it's worth bringing your binoculars as well when you visit.

Descrizione

In summer, Frognerparken is a good spot for the resident, urban species, like Ballerina bianca , Fringuello , Cardellino and Merlo. In addition, the ponds will hold various ducks and maybe also Gallinella d'acqua, Piro piro piccolo and Ballerina gialla. Cigno reale breeds here.

In winter, the ponds usually have open water, which is good for wintering ducks. Germano reale are of course abundant, while Quattrocchi and Moretta are usual guests. Alzavola and Fischione also regularly winter here. Always check for rarer species, especially in late fall and early spring. Airone cenerino is also a common sight. Gulls also frequent the park during the winter months, due to people feeding the ducks. Wintering Gabbiano comune and Gavina can be found, as well as rarer species. Both Gabbiano glauco and Gabbiano islandico have been reported from the park, and one Gavina americana was found here in the spring of 2001.

Follow Frognerelva south west to Skøyen and look for Merlo acquaiolo during winter.
