Descrizione
Under native forest a 400m board walk loop takes you from the carpark down to Mirror Lakes, with several platforms to take pictures and for birding. It is just a nice spot for a little break in general. On and around the lake you can, among others, find the endemic New Zealand Scaup as well as the harder to spot New Zealand Fernbird, Spotless Crake, and Baillon's Crake. The surrounding forest gives you the opportunity to spot three parrot species, Yellow-crowned Parakeet, New Zealand Kaka, and Kea, and many passerines such as South Island Robin, Rifleman, Mohua (Mohua), and Pipipi (Brown Creeper).
