Descrizione
The natural coastal vegetation at Bushy Beach Scenic Reserve is the last remaining in the area. Wind-sheared scrub, dominated by hebe, ngaio, mahoe and broadleaf, clings to the cliffs and shelters penguins and other seabirds. Yellow-eyed Penguin nest in the mud banks along the length of Bushy Beach. Adult penguins return to feed their young at any time of the day. Best chance you have in the early morning or late afternoon as they depart for or return from a day fishing. You can also regularly see New Zealand fur seals, with New Zealand sea lions and elephant seals occasional visitors to the beach.
