The Wijnjeterperschar is a heathland of 170 hectares in the middle reaches of the lowland stream the Koningsdiep. Along the stream lies a narrow peat area. There are a large number of depressions in the sandy area. Characteristic in the area are the special grasslands, the dry and wet heathland and small sedge marshes. The grasslands alternate with moist forests. Due to the relief and the different soil types, there are many natural gradients between the vegetation types.
All these diverse habitats attract many different birds. The heathland is home to breeding birds such as Chiurlo maggiore, Saltimpalo and Prispolone. The woods and hedgerows are home to breeding birds such as Pigliamosche and Balia nera, Rampichino comune, Codirosso and Zigolo giallo. The woods are home to Lodolaio, Picchio rosso minore and Ciuffolotto.

Nederlands: Het Wijnjeterperschar is een klein natuurgebied en heidegebied van 170 hectare in de middenloop van de laaglandbeek de Boorne (of Koningsdiep) met zeldzame blauwgraslanden. Het is een eeuwenoud, kleinschalig landschap van houtwallen, heide en stromende beken ten zuidoosten van Drachten. Het grootste deel van het gebied bestaat uit een reliëfrijk dekzandlandschap, waarin leem dagzoomt. Langs de beek ligt een smal veengebied. In het zandgebied ligt een groot aantal laagten. In de laagten in de keileem hebben zich beek-eerdgronden gevormd, waar het aanwezige blauwgrasland aan gebonden is. Karakteristiek in het gebied zijn daarnaast droge en natte heide, heischraal grasland en kleine zeggenmoerassen. Lokaal komt dotterbloemhooiland voor. De graslanden worden afgewisseld met vochtige bossen. Door het reliëf en de verschillende bodemsoorten zijn veel natuurlijke gradiënten tussen de vegetatietypen aanwezig.
Al die diverse leefgebieden trekken veel verschillende vogels aan. Op de heide broeden onder meer Chiurlo maggiore, Saltimpalo en Prispolone. In de bosjes en houtsingels broeden onder andere Pigliamosche en Balia nera, Rampichino comune, Codirosso en Zigolo giallo. In de bossen leven Lodolaio, Picchio rosso minore en Ciuffolotto.

Wijnjeterperschar is located southeast of the city of Drachten. On the west side of the area is a small parking lot. Press the P on the map for directions to the parking. The circular walk in the area is approximately 4 km.

Nederlands: Wijnjeterperschar ligt langs beekdalrivier het Koningsdiep ten zuidoosten van Drachten. Aan de westkant van het gebied ligt een kleine parkeerplaats. Druk op de P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving. De rondwandeling in het gebied is ongeveer 4 km.
