The Grote Rug reservoir is especially in winter a good place to see species such as Svasso collorosso or Svasso piccolo. In addition, this is a good place to check for (regional) rarities that are regularly discovered at this location, for example: Strolaga minore , Orchetto marino and Svasso cornuto.

Nederlands: Spaarbekken de Grote Rug is de enige van de 4 spaarbekkens, binnen het werkgebied van de vogelwerkgroep Biesbosch, dat aan de Zuid-Hollandse kant ligt. Met name in de winter is het bekken een goede plek om soorten als Svasso collorosso of Svasso piccolo te zien. Daarnaast is dit een goede plek om te checken voor (regionale) zeldzaamheden die regelmatig op deze locatie ontdekt worden, bijvoorbeeld: Strolaga minore , Orchetto marino en Svasso cornuto.

The lake can be viewed from 2 locations, from marina de Westergoot the lake can be viewed from the walking path (Generaal S.H. Spoorpad). You can park here in the parking bays on the Haringvlietstraat. The lake can also be viewed from Surf Association de Windkracht. You can also park here. From this location the view is somewhat obstructed by a fence and it is not possible to oversee the entire lake. However, this location is useful to check the back part of the reservoir or when the sun is in the east. Click on a P in the map for directions to a parking lot.

Nederlands: De plas is vanaf 2 locaties te bekijken, vanaf jachthaven de Westergoot is de plas te overzien vanaf het wandelpad (Generaal S.H. Spoorpad). Parkeren kan hier in de parkeervakken aan de Haringvlietstraat. Ook is de plas te overzien vanaf Surfvereniging de Windkracht. Hier kun je ook parkeren. Vanaf deze locatie wordt het zicht wat belemmerd door een hekwerk en is niet de hele plas te overzien. Wel is deze locatie handig om het achterste deel van het bekken te checken of wanneer de zon ten oosten staat. Klik op een P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar een parkeerplaats.
