The Sophiapolder is a nature reserve since 1997. It has a permanent island and several islands that only appear when the water level is falling. The open water, the banks and the grassland attract many birds. Breeding birds include Gabbiano corallino, Avocetta, Corriere piccolo, Oca facciabianca, Forapaglie comune, Topino, Pittima reale and Svasso piccolo. Spatola are often seen, just like Falco pellegrino who likes to catch a bird here.

Nederlands: De Sophiapolder is sinds 1997 een natuurgebied. Het heeft een aantal eilanden die pas verschijnen als het waterpeil daalt en ook een permanent eiland. Het open water, de oevers en het grasland trekken veel vogels aan. Broedvogels zijn onder meer Gabbiano corallino, Avocetta, Corriere piccolo, Oca facciabianca, Forapaglie comune, Topino, Pittima reale en Svasso piccolo. Spatola wordt vaak gezien, net als Falco pellegrino die hier graag jaagt.
