Fantastic place to watch birds and a must see in The Netherlands. The Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve (a National Park, aprox. 6,000 hectares) offers various bird hides on the edges and areas open to the public. It has an amazing variety of warblers, waders and waterfowl. The outdoor center is a good starting point for exploring the Oostvaardersplassen. Various hiking, cycling routes and excursions start there. The first place where Aquila di mare made his comeback in The Netherlands. Specialties of the area: Spatola, Basettino, Pesciaiola, Smergo maggiore, Aquila di mare, Pettazzurro, Falco di palude.

Het natuurgebied de Oostvaardersplassen (een Nationaal Park, ca. 6.000 hectare) biedt aan de randen diverse vogelhutten en voor publiek toegankelijke gebieden. Het heeft een verbazingwekkende verscheidenheid aan vogels. Het buitencentrum is een goed startpunt om de Oostvaardersplassen te verkennen. Daar beginnen diverse wandel-, fietsroutes en excursies. The Oostvaardersplassen offers various walking and cycling routes (accesible for young and old). Excursions can be reserved throughout the year. Shown on map is one of the available walking routes. If you travel by bike it's possible to visit a lot of different bird hides around this new wilderness. A circular cycling route is about 35 km.

Nederlands: De Oostvaardersplassen bieden diverse wandel- en fietsroutes. Het gebied kun je maar op een paar plekken in. Excursies moeten worden gereserveerd. Op de kaart wordt een van de beschikbare wandelroutes getoond. Met de fiets kun je mooi om het hele gebied heen fietsen (ongeveer 35 km) en de verschillende vogelhutten en uitkijkpunten rondom het gebied bezoeken.

The 5600 ha Oostvaardersplassen is a eutrophic wetland in the central part of the Netherlands, situated in the polder Zuid Flevoland, which was reclaimed in 1968. The marsh zone in this nature reserve takes up 3700 ha, the terrestrial part 1900 ha. Soil fertility is high. Since its reclamation from the freshwater lake IJsselmeer, the vegetation of the Oostvaardersplassen has rapidly developed by natural succession. The area became an internationally important wetland for migrating water birds such as waders and geese.

Nederlands: De Oostvaardersplassen zijn een eutrofisch moerasgebied van 5600 ha in Flevoland. De polder is in 1968 drooggelegd. Het moerasgebied in dit natuurgebied beslaat 3700 ha, het landdeel 1900 ha. De bodemvruchtbaarheid is hoog. Sinds de ontginning heeft de vegetatie van de Oostvaardersplassen zich snel ontwikkeld door natuurlijke successie. Het gebied werd een internationaal belangrijk wetland voor trekkende watervogels zoals steltlopers en ganzen.
