De Gouden Ham is a very large water recreation area on the river Maas between Appeltern and Maasbommel. This route goes through the Moringerwaarden in the eastern part of the Gouden Ham. The vegetation is very diverse with herb-rich grass and many types of trees and shrubs, which the birds also like. You will find many different bird species in the area. Birds you may encounter include Martin pescatore, Cesena, Tordo bottaccio, Tordo sassello, Oca canadese, Oca egiziana, Codibugnolo, Gheppio and Poiana.

Nederlands: De Gouden Ham is een zeer groot waterrecreatiegebied aan de Maas tussen Appeltern en Maasbommel. Deze struinroute gaat door de Moringerwaarden in het oostelijk deel van de Gouden Ham. De begroeiing is er zeer divers met kruidenrijk gras en vele soorten bomen en struiken, wat de vogels ook prettig vinden. In het gebied tref je dan ook veel water- en zangvogels. Vogels die je kunt tegenkomen zijn onder meer Martin pescatore, Cesena, Tordo bottaccio, Tordo sassello, Oca canadese, Oca egiziana, Codibugnolo, Gheppio en Poiana.

Parking at Hotel Moeke Mooren, Blauwe Sluis 1B in Appeltern. Click on the P in the map for directions to the car park. From there you can explore the route on foot. The 2.5 km route is marked by posts with blue heads and red heads for a 5.5 km route. The route of 2.5 km is indicated on the map.
