Landgoed Oostbroek is an old landlord's domain thus it has some park estatics, but there is also a lot of wet forests where not a lot of human interference is taking place. Because of the many landscape elements there are surprisingly many species for the small patch of land. In the forest you can find many common forest species like Picchio muratore, Cincia bigia, Cinciallegra and Picchio rosso maggiore. In the creek we find a lot of Germano reale, Canapiglia, Folaga and Tuffetto. But species like the Airone cenerino, Airone bianco maggiore, Moriglione, Picchio verde are also present. The Poiana nests in the woods and occasionally has some conflicts with the Cornacchia nera or Astore. In the summer Cannaiola nests in the reed fields where also a lot of roe deer can be found. Also interesting is the high chance of an encounter with the grass snake who is very present in the creeks.

Nederlands: Landgoed Oostbroek is een kleine natuurparel gelegen naast het Utrecht Science Park. Het landgoed was het domein van een oude landheer en heeft daarom veel weg van een park. Maar er zijn ook veel natte bossen waar niet veel menselijk ingrijpen plaatsvindt. Door de vele landschapselementen zijn er verrassend veel soorten voor het kleine stukje land. In het bos vind je veel voorkomende bossoorten zoals Picchio muratore, Cincia bigia, Cinciallegra en Picchio rosso maggiore. In de sloten en waterpartijen vind je veel Germano reale, Canapiglia, Folaga en Tuffetto. Maar ook soorten als de Airone cenerino, Airone bianco maggiore, Moriglione en Picchio verde komen voor. De Poiana nestelt in het bos en heeft af en toe conflicten met de Cornacchia nera of Astore. In de zomer nestelt Cannaiola in de rietvelden waar ook veel reeën te vinden zijn. Interessant is ook de grote kans op een ontmoeting met een ringslang die zeer aanwezig is in de sloten.

There is a little entrance from Utrechts Landschap at the Utrecht Science park side. You can only walk around in the little park, which is more than sufficient.

Nederlands: Er is een kleine ingang van het Utrechts Landschap aan de kant van het Utrecht Science park. Je kunt alleen rondlopen in het parkgedeelte, maar dat is meer dan voldoende.
