The Hertenbosvallei offers a blend of habitats. From dry dunes adorned with reed grass to low-lying areas teeming with sedges and bog-loving plants. You can take a nice walk among the flowers, shrubs and trees and encounter countless birds in the meantime. For example Cuculo, Falco di palude, Codibugnolo, Canapino maggiore, Bigiarella, Sterpazzola and Usignolo.

Nederlands: De Hertenbosvallei heeft droge duinen met rietgras en lage gebieden vol zeggen en veenplanten. In de vochtige, kalkrijke delen tref je moeraswespenorchis, rietorchis, en parnassia. Je kunt er een mooi ronde wandelen tussen de bloemenpracht, struiken en bomen en ondertussen talloze vogels tegenkomen. The Hertenbosvallei is located immediately northwest of the village of Schiermonnikoog. You can easily walk or cycle there from the village. Where the paths of Bergweg and the Westerduinenpad meet is the starting point of the walk through this area. You can take a short walk of about a kilometer through the core of the area, but if you want to see more birds then the longer walk through the valley of about 4 km shown on the map is the best option.

Nederlands: De Hertenbosvallei ligt meteen ten noordwesten van het dorp Schiermonnikoog. Je loopt of fiets er vanuit het dorp zo naar toe. Waar de Bergweg en het Westerduinenpad samenkomen is het beginpunt van de wandeling door dit gebied. Je kunt een korte wandeling van zo'n kilometer door de kern van het gebied maken, maar als je meer vogels wilt zien dan is de langere wandeling door de vallei van zo'n 4 km die op de kaart is weergegeven de beste optie.
