Wildlife observation point De Elsberg is located in the Veluwezoom National Park. With a bit of luck you can spot red deer, roe deer, badgers, foxes and wild boars all year round. The beautiful area with an alternation of forest and heathland is mainly known for the red deer rut in September and October. But a walk through the area is also good for seeing lots of birds. Among the birds you can spot in the area are Corvo imperiale, Falco pecchiaiolo, Saltimpalo, Tordela, Tottavilla, Succiacapre, Zigolo giallo, Crociere comune, Ciuffolotto and in winter Averla maggiore and sometimes Albanella reale.

Nederlands: Wildobservatiepunt De Elsberg ligt midden in Nationaal Park Veluwezoom. Hier kun je met een beetje geluk het hele jaar door edelherten, reeën, dassen, vossen en wilde zwijnen treffen. Het prachtige gebied met een afwisseling van bos en heidevelden is vooral bekend vanwege de edelhertenbronst in september en oktober. Maar een wandeling door het gebied is ook leuk om vogels te kijken. Vogels die je hier kunt tegenomen zijn Corvo imperiale, Falco pecchiaiolo, Saltimpalo, Tordela, Tottavilla, Succiacapre, Zigolo giallo, Crociere comune, Ciuffolotto en in de winter Averla maggiore en soms Albanella reale.

There are two ways to discover the area. The short variant is to park in the De Lange Juffer car park (Schaapsallee, Laag-Soeren) and walk to the De Elsberg observation post. Please note: during the autumn rut it can sometimes be crowded here. The long variant is a circular walk (or bicycle tour) of 8 km around De Elsberg, which guarantees more birds and more tranquility. Those who are going to do the walk can also park in the parking lot at the Beekhuizenseweg in Rheden. Click on a P in the map to go to the parking lot of your choice. The parking lot at the Beekhuizenseweg is 5 km by bike/walking from Rheden train station.

Nederlands: Er zijn twee manieren om het gebied te ontdekken. De korte variant is parkeren op parkeerplaats De Lange Juffer (Schaapsallee, Laag-Soeren) en naar observatiepost De Elsberg wandelen. Let op: tijdens de herfstbronst kan het hier soms druk zijn. De lange variant is een rondwandeling of fietstocht van 8 km rondom De Elsberg en die staat garant voor meer vogels en meer rust. Wie de wandeling of fietstocht gaat doen kan ook parkeren op parkeerplaats aan de Beekhuizenseweg in Rheden. Klik op een P in de kaart om naar de parkeerplaats van je keuze te gaan.
