The Den Inkel forest area is a direct result of the floods of 1953. In the fifties and sixties, mainly oaks and elms were planted around the gullies that were created at that time, later supplemented with other shrubs and trees. It is a walking area with some relief differences here and there. In the Den Inkel forest there are bird species that can be expected, such as woodpeckers, pigeons, tits, and songbirds such as thrushes, Capinera, Beccafico and Luì piccolo. In addition Astore and Poiana breed in the area. From the dike you have a beautiful view of the Western Scheldt, where you can see many waders and geese.

Den Inkel is located just south of the town of Kruiningen on the Western Scheldt. In the area around Den Inkel you can enjoy walking through the Zeeland landscape. There are various walks mapped out. The circular walk shown on the map is approximately 2 km. Cycling is also an option. Den Inkel is located at cycle junction 90. In addition to the cycle junction route, there are various regional and national cycle routes that run along Den Inkel. Parking is available at the Blauwhoefseweg, among other places. Press P on the map for directions to a parking space.

Nederlands: Den Inkel ligt iets ten zuiden van de plaats Kruiningen aan de Westerschelde. In de omgeving van Den Inkel kun je lekker wandelen door het Zeeuwse landschap. Er zijn verschillende wandelingen uitgestippeld. De rondwandeling die is weergegeven op de kaart is ongeveer 2 km. Fietsen kan natuurlijk ook. Den Inkel ligt aan fietsknooppunt 90. Naast de fietsknooppuntenroute lopen er langs Den Inkel verschillende regionale en landelijke fietsroutes. Parkeren kan onder meer aan de Blauwhoefseweg. Druk op P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar een parkeerplek.
